August: PotatoFest

The Second Annual PotatoFest, hosted by Downtown Rhinelander Inc. and Tri-County Council-Lilyís House, will be held on August 30, 2014. The mission of PotatoFest is to have a positive community event that will gain recognition and popularity. We seek to highlight the potato and bring awareness to the public how vital it is to our area. Wisconsin is ranked 3rd in the country for potato growing and Rhinelander develops many types and supplies a high percentage of the plants used yearly by the growers.

The festival is a spud-filled day of activities such as a parade, a French Fry Frenzy, the YMCA Couch Potato Race, Little Litíl Miss and Litíl Mr. Tator Tot Potato Sack Outfit Contest, a potato salad cook-off and so much more. There is a historic and education component, food vendors and live music throughout the afternoon into the evening providing entertainment for all ages.
