Sue Bessert, Executive Director

Downtown Rhinelander is the place to be this summer for fresh local produce, great bargains and special retail promotions.  A brand new weekly Thursday market will be held in the parking lot between South Courtney Street and Anderson Street, adjacent to the 150 foot U.S. Flag!  Opening day is May 3.  Final market is October 25.  The Downtown Market is unique as it will be both FARM and FLEA!  Homegrown or handmade items including landscaping plants, fresh produce, fine arts, baked goods, meat products, eggs are welcome along with merchandise that’s bargain priced, recycled goods and of the highest quality.  Hours of operation are 9 am – 3 pm.    Vendors will pay a weekly fee of $5.  To help get the Market started, there is no charge to vend during the five Thursdays in May, first come first serve.  Completed application materials are required and can be procured from Chad Novak at Brown Street Mall or at the office of Downtown Rhinelander, Inc., 21 A South Brown Street.  In addition to this Thursday market, the Saturday Hodag Farmers’ Market is set to begin its season on June 2 at Pioneer Park.  Last year the Downtown Market was held on Wednesdays.  “This year’s planning team is excited about the traffic we hope to generate with this unique combination of locally produced and grown products along with great bargains!   We plan to grow the weekly event and provide a chance for families and people of all ages to gather downtown this summer,” said DRI executive director Sue Bessert.  Questions about the Market can be directed to Downtown Rhinelander, Inc.; phone number is (715) 362-7374.
