Wisconsin Waterfront Planning Grant We are all overjoyed by the opportunity to bring the community together in dialogue about one of our most valuable resources the Wisconsin River.
The success of this grant is a result of the strong collaborative effort of the City of Rhinelander, North Central Wisconsin Regional Planning commission and Downtown Rhinelander Incorporated.
DRI believes the river is our past and our future We are delighted by the prospect of planning our future facing the river. The Wisconsin River was at the heart of Rhinelander during its development. The history of logging and the paper mill is deep but it is time for a new vision of the river.
Create the Wisconsin River as a focal point; Access the river for recreation and green space; Promote economic growth; Further develop downtown as a destination;
Some outcomes we will look for in our planning to ensure success are: Private-public partnerships; Creating the linkage between the downtown and the river; Involvement by youth, seniors and all members of the community;
We have the natural resources the river, clean air and beautiful forests
We have the human resources skilled workers from our schools
The grant will help us develop the infrastructure to ensure our enhancement of economic resources.
We are committed to turn the plan into reality. The enthusiasm of the project is already evident in the buzz created by this opportunity.
